Von Studies admits its first three students
Gerbert Zacharias, Friedrich Kant and Immanuel Nietzsche are the first to be accepted into the College’s most selective programme.
O’Block Community College has accepted its first three students into Von Studies, the flagship programme led by Professor Helmudt Schmidt.
Every applicant to the College answers one question: why do humans have two eyes? Most answers are read by the admissions panel. Answers that might suit Von Studies are also read by Professor Schmidt. So far, three have passed.
The College has not said how many answers were considered, or what the programme was looking for. It confirmed only that each of the three gave a different answer, and that none of them was the one in the textbook.

What happens next
The three students will begin with VON 101: Order when the College opens, alongside their chosen subject areas. The content of VON 301 remains withheld, including from them.
Principal Frida Phelps welcomed the students: “They are the first, but they will not be the last. The question is still open to anyone willing to answer it.”
